Must Dos and Sees in Vermilion Bay

Table of Contents

Nowhere Craft Chocolate & Coffee Roastery

Start your day with a delicious cup of locally roasted coffee, located right along the side of the Trans Canada if their giant OPEN sign is hanging from their porch pull over. You’ll also love their selection of artisanal chocolates.

Sunset Country Adventures

Fish the Indian Lake Chain with a little help from Sunset Country Adventures. They offer fishing day trips, fly in fishing, and weekly stay packages – and they really hook you up! Boat, bait, bags of ice. Their property offers 10 private cabins and is sprawled out across a beautiful beach with some fun water toys for the kids (and I appreciate a good water trampoline too)

Blue Lake Provincial Park

You’ll be impressed by the crystal blue waters at Blue Lake. Hike and explore the trail system and take a refreshing swim off the long sandy beach. This place has kayak or canoe rentals, playgrounds, and a ton of campsites.

Bobby’s Bites Food Truck

Hungry? Bobby’s Bites food truck is located next to Shell aka Bobby’s Corner & Sports Shop. They’re known for their fresh locally caught Whitefish pulled out of Eagle Lake. Try their Fish Tacos! If you’re not into fish… (what’s wrong with you?)…. You can still find homemade burgers, poutine or fries.

West End Cannabis

The locals told me to check out this place….Experience the laid-back vibes of Vermilion Bay with a visit to West End Cannabis. They have only the friendliest of budtenders. Go browse a curated selection of cannabis products, or just pop by to see the amazing custom artwork inside. If you want to unwind and relax at the lake – West End Cannabis is a must stop, even if you’re simply driving through this charming lakeside community. Located in the old Credit Union building directly off the TransCanada – look for the big gold leaf – you won’t miss it!

Moose Creek Trading Co.

Treat yourself to Ice Cream and Fudge at Moose Creek. Indulge in creamy ice cream flavors and decadent fudge, handcrafted with love in Vermilion Bay. Satisfy your sweet tooth and cool off on a warm summer day. Also located on the Trans Canada.

Northside Motel

Need a rest? This place has amazing reviews and has all you need so you can spend another day exploring V Bay. Super clean rooms, fridge, microwave, big screen. Operated by friendly locals who are happy to host! With comfortable accommodations and warm hospitality, it’s the perfect (and affordable) home base for you to extend your Northwestern Ontario adventure.

Walking Trails by Eagle Lake Landing at Pine Tree Park

Lace up your hiking boots or running shoes and take a stroll along the lake. This trail is easy to access and easy to walk. I also love a nicely planned boat launch, take a look at their beauty launch that will get you out onto Eagle. Equipped with a large paved turnaround, a playground, oh and a secret little side beach.

Catch a Fish on Eagle

If you know me, you know I love getting out to fish and Eagle Lake is one of the most diverse lakes in the region with almost every species of freshwater fish in there. Walleye, northern pike, muskie, trout, bass, and white fish!

Roadside Attractions Galore

There’s no short supply of vacation photo opportunities; for the size of Vermilion Bay it sure has a nice selection of roadside attractions. The big Inukshuk located at Bobby’s Sport Shop (Shell), the totem pole at Moose Creek Trading Co. and my personal favourite the Sasquatch giving the thumbs up to West End Cannabis Co.
